It’s not “soppy”, it’s beautiful

By Jeremy

I’m sick of people putting Andrew Bolt down. The guy’s a RESPECTED POLITICAL COMMENTATOR who occasionally writes PROFOUND AND NOT IN ANY WAY TRITE OR CREEPY monologues on life.

The man pours his heart out and you cynical beasts mock him for it. Shame on you.

  • Do I assume this make sense to someone?

  • I believe it’s called “saracasm” or perhaps “irony”, Rachel. Saying one thing, with the intended meaning being something else, while having the intent of drawing ridicule or contempt upon someone or their argument.

  • Or perhaps it’s called “sarcasm”. Oh dear.

I reckon my predictions for Bolt in 2008 (written in January) are looking pretty good:

    PREDICTIONS FOR 2008:

Stolen Generations Myths – 15 columns
Global Warming Myths — 13 Columns
The Evil in Islam — 11
The Iraq War is Won — 6
    Grants-Fed Artists — 4
    Clinton/Obama is a Fraud — 4
Mawkish Piece About a Sick Child — 3

My only error: the evil-in-Islam baton has been picked up — with passion — by the creepy and unreadable Alan Howe.

  • PSC you could call it a “boltcasm” – the difference between what Bolt writes and the truth. ie: The left are the true racists. The world is cooling. etc …

  • God… interesting to see that Bolt still comes across as complete swine even when trying to write a piece about smiles.

Every time Bolt smiles it looks like he’s trying to pass gas.

Bolt is a real wierdo. As much as I try to give him credit when he does write something noble or kind in his blog, and I have done so in the past, I just cannot shrug of the sense that he has a penchant for manipulating emotional situations to make some sort of a point, or too further his image. It would have been much nicer and respectfull of him too just offer a tribute to Jane Mgrath and her family, insteaded of using the situation too provide a presentaion of his own philosophical pontifications.

Really wierd, uncomfortable and altogether innapropraite stuff. Bolt never seems to be able to hide at least an element of alterior motive in these sort of pieces responding too emotional situations.

The guy truly is a narcissist, full of deluded self importance. About as sincere as an xmas card from Bin Laden!!

    Real “bucket” stuff!!

  • I think, as Jeremy puts it, ‘Creepy’ is the most accurate interpretation.

    My skin crawled…

  • I’m still trying to work out how many times can we win a war with one country, as in Iraq.
Now you throw this at me from Bolt. :-)

  • Geoff – according to Bolt we’ve won it about five times now.

Another victory is expected in the near future.

  • Personally, I’m still waiting for a fitting tribute to the late George Carlin. No disrespect to McGrath, but the contrast between the media’s blanket coverage of her funeral and nary a scant mention of Carlin’s death on Monday left me feeling deeply frustrated. Not in the least bit surprised, mind you.

“Do I assume this make sense to someone?”

only to those with a sense of humour dear.

“I just cannot shrug of the sense that he has a penchant for manipulating emotional situations to make some sort of a point, or too further his image”

perhaps bolt is covering all bases. when his denialism finally shreds all his credibility he figures he can always write for woman’s day.

  • Why doesn’t “The Right” have a sense of humour? Gosh!

  • A boltcasm is not to be confused with a boltgasm, which is when you reach sexual climax while fantasising about rescuing black children from their parents.

  • I note the regular trolls have no comments regarding their hero’s vomitous penmanship. We’ll take that that they weren’t overly impressed either.

And if AB wants to dissect a smile he should go no further than look at his hubristic sneer on the cover of his $3 book…

“not to be confused with a boltgasm”

LOL!! a multiple then must surely be thinking about stealing…oops i mean saving black children AND dreaming about all the snow that’s coming you way AND visualing the peaceful haven that is iraq now that the war is won.

  • But can you use boltgasm in a sentence?

Or better yet get it posted on the Blair Bolt blogs … hmmm

  • Did he mention Matilda the Kangaroo? That always makes at least one piece a year where he describes his sneaking into the Commonwealth Games mascot was the making of his pelvically splitting career.
