WELL FANCY THAT

By Jeremy

Tim Blair has heard of the words “civility” and “logic”.

And, although I don’t want to jump to conclusions here, knowing OF the words, he may conceivably have even uncovered what they mean.

So you were all quite wrong. Put THAT in your pipe bong and smoke it, lefties.

  • So let me get this crushing takedown straight.

Blair sarcastically denounces the lack of “civility” and “logic” on some inconsequential lefty blog, and then this inconsequential lefty blog denounces Blairs use of the terms “civility” and “logic”, thus proving his point.

    Delicious…..

  • That’s all Timmy has done, heard of those words?….his next assignment is to put those words into action. But i’m affraid that’s out of range of timmys’ range.

  • Dam Buster of Preston

I AM GLAD WE CAN ALL USE CAPITALS LIKE TIM AS WELL.

  • What a nasty and offensive post. Is Kim going through some sort of crisis? Why would it need to reference a dead person in such a nasty way while trying to make an interesting point about rape as a war crime?

As for the end part about being an “uppity lesbian”, who the hell cares? That doesn’t excuse being a nasty piece of work.

I’m glad that the poster of this blog entry obviously agrees with Tim that Kim’s post lacks both civility and logic.

  • Rachel’s really not good with the reading comprehension, is she?

  • “What a nasty and offensive post. ”

Err – you’re Abu Chowder’s cheerleader – Mock Outrage I believe. How come you’ve never criticised Abu? You want nasty offensive posts you ought to go and play at Bolt’s blog. Plenty of racial slurs there, you’ll be able to vent your spleen.

    “THESE PEOPLE ARE INSANE”

LOL!! how long have i waited for bolt/blair to use THAT heading for their sheep to post under??? lovin it.

btw at least he’s taken down his photo. after seeing him last night the best you can conclude is it was false advertising.

  • confessions, isn’t it likely that his photo was taken before his cancer operations? A lot of people would come through that type of thing looking a little worse for wear.

  • confessions of a (former) bolt blogger

your right nic i’d forgotten about his cancer. a low blow.

  • He doesn’t look cancer-ravaged, just older. What, he’s going to pretend to be whatever age he was when that photo was taken for the rest of his post-illness life?

  • Jeremy,

    When was your photo taken?

  • Last year. The one on my Bar profile was taken this year.

Admittedly, the one of me as a 19th century Regency-period butler is a little dated now, though.

  • My work updates professional photos every 3 years, it is a cost saving exercise. I don’t think you can read much into Tim’s photo (particularly if it is taken down now).

  • I’m not making a big deal over it. The only reason I was surprised he was still using the old one was that when we googled to find an image for the headline image on this site, there were a whole lot of photos of him with various bloggers, and it was clear that the News Ltd image was already very old by the time those were taken.

But it’s not really relevant what he looks like, of course.

  • The first time i read Blair was when he sent his monkey to attack the heroin diaries blogger, his monkeys made fun of the poor blokes dead wife and were not pulled in by the Blair. Very civil indeed.

  • The least civil part of it all is just how fundamentally and thoroughly Blair and his cohorts misrepresented Kim’s comments on FGM and Hirst-Ali in the first place.

It was a real eye opener for me – the first time I’d seen a group of people completely invert someone’s views and then bash them with the inversion. It was like they were living in opposite world.

Attacking Kim over being insufficiently feminist? Next they’ll be attacking Bolt for being insufficiently pompous.

  • Blow me down. Jeremy didn’t censor my last post. Looks like he’s maturing.

I’ll mention it to David Marr next time we’re chatting. Thinks are certainly looking up, under Rudd, on the free speech front.

It must really suck to be a thinking adult conservative these days, when you have such juvenile idiots like Blair and Bolt supposedly representing your form of politics in today’s media.

Amongst so many of Australia’s most prominent “conservative” bloggers today, runs a common theme, of uniformity in material, welded on thinking, knee-jerk responses, lack of analytical ability, shoddy tabloidesque attempted excuses for journalism, amateurism, sloppiness, narcissism, patronising demeaner, childishness, snide’ness and mind boggling hypocrisy.

In fact it sucks for anyone who appreciates the need for quality thought-provoking journalism and political commentary from a range or political perspectives, and those that feel that quality journalism should be given prominence and exposure over that of morons.

Unless Bolt and Blair are really just parodies, taking the piss, they both seriously seem to be suffering from some sort of lack of developmental maturity. The part of normal human development that leads one to self-asses their own behavior and realise one’s potential to be a hypocrite on a grand scale. Their repeated critiques of those that disagree with them on or outside of their blogs, for a lack of civility, really represents a young child’s level of hypocritical behavior, rarely seen in grown adults, given the sort of behavior they engage in themselves and encourage their supporters to do so.

  • Dear me, “Abu”. Looks like the spam filter got it. Again.

Possibly you should stop trolling. That looks awfully like spam to Akismet. And me.

  • I can admit I’m a troll. Can you admit you lack a sense of humour and like to censor stuff that pierces your rather thin skin? Didn’t think so.

  • confessions of a (former) bolt blogger

abu instead of sooking like a child or name dropping like a loser why don’t you address the issue?

chris of bris has nailed it. if you were a conservative in today’s australia you’d see nothing in any of the right-wing columnists/blogs that presents thought-provoking, discussion-generating opinion to stimulate debate. they ALL propagate that time-honoured, same ol sing-song rusted-on thinking that only presents a uni-dimensional angle to their view, hence only attracts those who are capable of slinging out jingoistic slogans or ‘gotcha’ crap in response. it’s as if they’re trying to be the anti-establishment 1960s generation of today.

to illustrate, compare the one line turd-thrower readers at blair and bolt with the more meaty responses at road to surfdom or larvatus prodeo. if you wanna compare news ltd, even tim dunlops blogocracy gets more informed readers.

sadly for tim while he might figure himself to be insightful and sharp, his commenters say otherwise to me.

Abu, I particularly like the way you ask a question then spew out an aggressive response without any possibility of an answer – you truly are a low-grade trollish wanker. If this blog offends you so badly, why don’t you piss off and spend your time elsewhere ??

  • I’ll tell you why Abu doesn’t go – he’s lonely and he’s just trying to get attention. Hence his absurd use of pompous terms, and his deliberate attempts to provoke.

  • Abu talking about censoring stuff on here, LOL, that is funny. Not like Bolt, Timmy and their monkeys ( moderators ) don’t censor anything that they don’t agree with? There for, when they are told the facts.

  • No Geoff – it’s ironic and hypocritical. Since I’ve started posting here I’ve read many comments about censorship at the Bolt and Blair blogs. Imagine my surprise to find in the last few days that my comments are being censored.

  • Chris, my boy, if such as you were not a penny a hundredweight, I’d have to invent you for you never cease to amuse me.

“It must really suck to be a thinking adult conservative these days, when you have such juvenile idiots like Blair and Bolt supposedly representing your form of politics in today’s media.”

Comment: A chuckle-worthy case of projection, I am afraid. Unlike lefties, adherence to group-think is not important to us. So Bolt and Blair represent their own form of politics. No-one else’s. members of the VRWC can agree or disagree with them, and we do.

I bet that you do not even understand that the greatest attraction of Blair’s old site was the humour that community generated in laughing at the various idiocies of the world. People like those precious folk who think themselves leading the glorious revolution, for example, or base hypocrites like Flannery.

“Amongst so many of Australia’s most prominent “conservative” bloggers today, runs a common theme, of uniformity in material, welded on thinking, knee-jerk responses, lack of analytical ability, shoddy tabloidesque attempted excuses for journalism, amateurism, sloppiness, narcissism, patronising demeaner, childishness, snide’ness and mind boggling hypocrisy.”

Comment: Mere projection, and so typical of the left. Shorter Chris: they do not agree with me, how un-nuanced of them.

I’ll call the waaahmulance for you immediately, little lad! And for YOU to mention ‘lack of analytical capability is belly-laugh material of the first wet!

“In fact it sucks for anyone who appreciates the need for quality thought-provoking journalism and political commentary from a range or political perspectives, and those that feel that quality journalism should be given prominence and exposure over that of morons.”

Comment: No-one forces you to purchase the papers they work for or read their words. There is ample left-oriented media out there for your circle, it being the great majority. No, what *really* gets your goat is that there is any at all which does not agree with you.

“Unless Bolt and Blair are really just parodies, taking the piss, they both seriously seem to be suffering from some sort of lack….
    yadda yadda yadda,”

Comment: The usual hysterics of someone unable to stand the idea that there exist those who do not agree with them. And the usual ‘answer’, they must be stopped from airing their views, lest your own be challenged. At heart, you know your delusions to be fragile.

Thanks for the chuckles at your expense, lad. It’s been a busy week and I did need a good laugh.

  • arrrr MarkL.

Is the ‘L’ for Luddite? I know some of Blairs supports struggle with a fast changing society, not having yet mastered things like public transport.

You talk about Blair & Bolt not representing conservatives yet so readily align anyones opinion you don’t agree with being ’so typical of the left’ (e.g: your reference to that sinister flannery who tries to minimise polution, what a hypocrite he is, he probably owns books… made out of trees!)

Truth is, Bolt & Blair have a substantial readership of rascists, homophobes & sadists who aspire for a society resembling something in the 1950s.

Any intelligent person is going to be concerned about the tripe Blair/Bolt write and the slave monkey readership.

  • confessions of a (former) bolt blogger

“Unlike lefties, adherence to group-think is not important to us. So Bolt and Blair represent their own form of politics”

LOL!! groupthink 101 is the only form of thought process in evidence at blair/bolt. witness the slap-ya-back comment mentality at bolt combined with the my-turd’s-bigger-than-yours comment at blair.

“members of the VRWC can agree or disagree with them, and we do.”

dunno about blair, but hang around at bolts for a few days and count the number of sheep who state they either get their ‘news’ solely from bolt, or his is the first ‘news’ site they log onto each day. not so much disagreement as a sycophants pimp convention.

“the greatest attraction of Blair’s old site was the humour that community generated in laughing at the various idiocies of the world”

LOL!! you are right. and those laughing the hardest were those laughing at the blair sheep. you say idiocy, i say lobotomy.

“The usual hysterics of someone unable to stand the idea that there exist those who do not agree with them”

Pffft! and you fingerpoint about projection.

“And for YOU to mention ‘lack of analytical capability is belly-laugh material of the first wet!”

Which is why there’s ME wielding Pampers trailing after YOU. you are simply not making sense boy.

“And the usual ‘answer’, they must be stopped from airing their views, lest your own be challenged.”

no. if the views of those paid to offer their view are to be ‘aired’ then they must at least be valid. otherwise websites like this which challenge the blair/bolt perspective on the basis of their ill-informed views will continue to prosper. chicken? egg? whatever. but if you wanna be a ’serious’ , mainstream columnist then evidence, fact, heaven help us, actual JOURNALISM must enter the equation. bolt and blair are try-hard puff writers. the onus is on them to lift their game.

“At heart, you know your delusions to be fragile.”

ladies and gentleman, i give you “unidimensional thinking”……

  • Confessions,

This blog is hardly prospering, relative to Andrew’s blog or Tim’s blog. I don’t think you can use this blog as evidence of the decline of the right wing.

Back on thread – I notice that Kim is taking “a bit of a break for a while” and has apoligised for her personal attacks. I hope she has a good rest and deals with whatever was wrong.

  • Dam Buster of Preston

Nic – with all due respects Tim has not had a blog with more than 100 comments on last check since moving to the tele website. This site has had several with more than that.

  • Well, it depends on how you define impact – but I would think that Tim and Andrew’s blogs have more impact than this blog.

  • Well, that’d be fairly unavoidable, since everyone who’s read this blog has read theirs by definition, and the reverse is obviously not true.
