By Jeremy
Some terrifying new environmental group has let down the tyres of SIX four wheel drives in the UK. And RUTHLESSLY put notes on the windscreens.
Tim Blair asks his readers for suggested responses, short of using a gun. “Be creative”, he instructs.
You can guess the enthusiastic results.

Unsurprising that the suggestings all revolve around torturing and then killing those responsible.
Blair really knows his audience – angry, macho armchair warriors full of utter hatred for those they disagree with. All looking for justification to release their righteous rage on people they dislike – but only from the safe distance of their studies.
Yep – Blair really knows how to give them what they want. I can see them now, basking in the afterglow of their pretend violence – smoking ciggies and telling themselves “yeah – I would have stomped that hippy . . . “
21 July, 2008 at 11:28 am
I got through page 1 and decided that was enough for me. Blair should be ashamed. Maybe his blog should be pulled for inciting violence?
One post suggests using Muslims to beat them up? WTF?
But on the positive side for Blair it is the blog with most posts for a long time.
21 July, 2008 at 11:35 am
Oh Jesus. I’m not even going to read it. I can imagine it — full of extremely sick, trigger-happy jerks. It’s so disturbing. They need help.
21 July, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Have a look at some of the comments posted to Bolt’s blog on Friday about the arrest of the ABC journo – the hatred and sheer contempt on display is absolutely disgusting.
21 July, 2008 at 12:49 pm
One post suggests using Muslims to beat them up? WTF?
Didn’t you know DB that Greenies, as left wingers, are automatically mindless supporters of radical Islam? Ergo manipulating circusmatnces so that Muslims attack Greenies engenders a pathetic and insipid sense of irony amongst the brain-dead wingnuts.
21 July, 2008 at 12:55 pm
That’s why I refer to Bolt’s and Blair’s blogs as Tenpin Bowling Blogs. B1 and B2 set em up and their disciples knock em down.
It serves a couple of purposes: The worst comments are not made by them and so they can weasel out of responsibility for the content; their underlying and controversial points are made without them having to actually come out and make decisive comments themselves or give their own views. Bolt is always wheeling out does the “I never actually said…” routine.
Cowards.
21 July, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Let’s try a comparative study. How would this site’s lefty readers react were they to catch someone disabling their vehicles? (Bear in mind that the alleged SUVs involved included smallish Hondas and Subarus — cars that might easily be owned by eco-aware types).
Over to you.
21 July, 2008 at 1:27 pm
I’d call the cops. I wouldn’t take matters into my own hands.
21 July, 2008 at 1:31 pm
You put up the post, TB. What would you do?
Being the fast car-driving, James Bond-type you clearly are, I expect you’d single-handedly apprehend them after giving them a rightfully-deserved seeing to with your fists of iron?
Or perhaps, like the majority of your big-talking pals, were they honest and not trying to be impressively, falsely and over-compensatingly macho (even the 1 or 2 token females, I notice!), you’d possibly call the police and let them do their job?
21 July, 2008 at 1:44 pm
“Let’s try a comparative study. How would this site’s lefty readers react were they to catch someone disabling their vehicles? ”
Decent, sensible people would call the cops, some may be hot heads and take vigilante action. (but then they’d be criminals too, no better than the people disabling cars, actually they’d be worse if they were prepared to take the law into thier own hands and commit violent acts.)
Internet hard men and women would spout all sorts of rubbish on a right wing blog, fair do’s though, I doubt many of them would really follow through with their actions, most would call the cops but they like to kid themselves and other idiots that they’re actually tough guys and girls.
I’d call the cops tim, what would you do? Do you condone the rubbish written on the Tim Blair blog?
21 July, 2008 at 1:49 pm
If it was my car I would be humbled and shamed by these righteous warriors of the left. I would publicly ask for forgiveness and make my anus available to any leftist willing to give me the jolly rogering I so richly deserved. Clearly any action against these bold activists would be an unwarranted fetter on their free speech. Only raving petrol heads could possibly object to this gentle reminder to us all to fear the omnipotence of Gaia.
21 July, 2008 at 1:50 pm
Easy, Tim – call the cops. That’s what you do when you witness a crime. (I do like your continuing reference to “disabling” the vehicles, which sounds like they’ve disconnected things under the bonnet, rather than just letting the tyres down.)
Why, what would you do? Go on, nail your colours to the mast. And, while you’re there, want to offer an opinion on the psychotic options suggested by your readers on your own blog? Do you disapprove of any?
Alternatively, you could be the coward you are and continue to quietly encourage them to plot violence whilst keeping your own hands clean.
21 July, 2008 at 1:53 pm
In the absence of any condemnation or moderation it would be fair to say that Tim does not disapprove of any of the comments.
21 July, 2008 at 1:54 pm
SB wins!
21 July, 2008 at 1:58 pm
I would be humbled and shamed by these righteous warriors of the left.
The insinuation is that “we” believe that’s what these people are. They’re not. They’re f-wits. They should rightfully be assigned to the same group as all other vigilantes and law-breakers.
The irony is, there are none of the former here. There seems to be plenty of the latter over at Tim’s.
21 July, 2008 at 2:12 pm
None of you would even shout at the guy, or orthwise try to stop him before calling the police? Surprising.
Helpfully, the act of deflating tyres requires that one adopt a vulnerable, crouched position. I think a kicking would be in order.
21 July, 2008 at 2:14 pm
(I do like your continuing reference to “disabling” the vehicles, which sounds like they’ve disconnected things under the bonnet, rather than just letting the tyres down.)
Oh Please! Letting down the tyres is disabling the vehicles.
Have you ever tried to drive a car with flat tyres?
They’re f-wits. They should rightfully be assigned to the same group as all other vigilantes and law-breakers.
I agree Dean. These self righteous, environmental vigilantes are criminals & should be treated accordingly. They are no better than anti- abortion campaigners that attack and protest abortion clinics.
21 July, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I think a kicking would be in order.
Yeah, providing they were 4′ tall 13 year-olds, I strongly suspect.
21 July, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Can I just say that is the most I have seen Tim write of his own words in a long time on a blog.
That aside I would be pissed off if someone did that to my car. But would i go collect them, shoev page 2 of the kuran up their ass and send them to the mosque? Because tim, that is what your website is suggesting. You better be careful that you dont get lumped with a lawsuit for suggesting people take things into their own hands.
21 July, 2008 at 2:19 pm
“I think a kicking would be in order.”
And if there were more of them than you?
You’re so tough…………………………………on the internet.
“None of you would even shout at the guy,”
Of course, that’s hardly violence though is it tough guy?
“or orthwise try to stop him before calling the police?”
Not if I thought it would result in me getting seriously injured, but I guess I’m not as tough as you. If I were bigger and confident that I could easily tackle the offender I may try and restrain them before the police came.
I rejected violence as a solution when I grew up, I used to get into a few scrapes when I was a boy but I GREW UP and realised how futile mindless violence IS!
21 July, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Here’ s a shovel Tim, care to dig that hole any deeper?
21 July, 2008 at 2:31 pm
We’d do exactly what any normal person would do tim – we’d yell at them to stop, call the cops, and then attempt to identify the perpetrators to the police. Those of the larger physical persuasion might even attempt to restrain the perpetrator until the cops arrived.
However none of this changes the fact that you have quite transparently asked your readers to indulge their violent fantasies of torturing and killing Greenies.
And indulge them they did. You must be so proud.
21 July, 2008 at 2:36 pm
“You better be careful that you dont get lumped with a lawsuit for suggesting people take things into their own hands.”
I knew those draconian laws against suggesting people take things into their own hands would trap me one day. Curses!
21 July, 2008 at 2:37 pm
So tim – What would you do? And will you post what YOU would do on your blog as well?
21 July, 2008 at 2:42 pm
Yes Tim, how about some common courtesy, we’ve answered your questions, how about you tell us what you’d do. You’ve been asked a few times.
21 July, 2008 at 2:48 pm
We’d do exactly what any normal person would do tim – we’d yell at them to stop, call the cops, and then attempt to identify the perpetrators to the police. Those of the larger physical persuasion might even attempt to restrain the perpetrator until the cops arrived
Would you also try and convert them to Christianity so that they can be forgiven for their sins by learn the love of Jesus?!
Seriously guys you are all sounding, dare I say it “awfully Christian”.
It is one thing to vent your frustration and quite another to act upon it. You are taking this way too seriously with your mock outrage and higher than though morals. I suspect if the venting of a person’s frustration was to verbalise aggression* towards Howard you would approve.
* by that I only mean verbal, I don’t mean to act upon it.
21 July, 2008 at 2:52 pm
“awfully Christian”
What do you mean? I could name a few Christians that espouse violence as a solution.. What’s Christianity got to do with the subject at hand?
Aaaaah I get it, you’re just being your usual contrary self.
21 July, 2008 at 2:53 pm
WTF Rad? So by reading through your comment you are suggesting you would go out swinging??
Or are you trying to say Tim’s blog is just a big joke? Like Alan Jones suggesting bike gangs should go to the train station was a joke?
21 July, 2008 at 2:53 pm
The newspaper report states “green campaigners” and Tim himself writes “hypergreens” – a new, more virulent green? – so why does he write in the comment above “None of you would even shout at the guy, or orthwise try to stop him before calling the police?”.
When did the collective become a singular and how does he know the gender?
Oh, and given how Tim loves to spot a spelling error, that should be “otherwise” not “orthwise”.
21 July, 2008 at 3:02 pm
WTF Rad? So by reading through your comment you are suggesting you would go out swinging??
Or are you trying to say Tim’s blog is just a big joke? Like Alan Jones suggesting bike gangs should go to the train station was a joke?
What I am saying is that most of the comments made on Tim’s blog are people just venting. I doubt that any of them would actually act upon their words.
You are taking it all too seriously. In the process you are coming across like self righteous Christian wowsers.
21 July, 2008 at 3:05 pm
From the bowling alley:
UPDATE. During a previous outbreak of green deflationism:
[Louise Young’s] family found their car tires deflated as they went to take their sick son to the doctor.
I think TB is after a gig on ACA.
21 July, 2008 at 3:07 pm
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24000524-2862,00.html
Rad is that more Christian way to deflate tyres?
“A BANISHED church member who deflated car tyres in a bid to meet women will have to do 100 hours of community work.”
21 July, 2008 at 3:10 pm
“You are taking it all too seriously. ”
I’m not, I’m pointing at the internet tough guys and laughing at them……
BTW – Tim, what would you do? Can’t you answer a SIMPLE question?
21 July, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Rad is that more Christian way to deflate tyres?
“A BANISHED church member who deflated car tyres in a bid to meet women will have to do 100 hours of community work.”
What a great punishment for those environmental vigilantes. Make them give back to the community after causing this:
[Louise Young’s] family found their car tires deflated as they went to take their sick son to the doctor
Personally I would like to see them do community work in an old people’s* home, bathing the residents.
*I apologise now if I have offended any of the wowsers with an un PC term for old people.
21 July, 2008 at 3:13 pm
Yes, RobJ. Yes I can.
21 July, 2008 at 3:14 pm
When is “chicken liver” Tim going to answer the question? What would he do?
21 July, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Tim, you’re a gutless wonder.
21 July, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Pretty gutless of ole tim there….
21 July, 2008 at 3:21 pm
tim, come on then? If I’ve missed your answer you can just cut ‘n’ paste..
21 July, 2008 at 3:26 pm
This is hilarious.
21 July, 2008 at 3:27 pm
… or just post to the Bolta?
21 July, 2008 at 3:27 pm
that should be link to the Bolta …
21 July, 2008 at 3:30 pm
Be fair guys, he did say I think a kicking would be in order.
Of course, TB, caught up in the fantasy that surrounds his Blogang, has this idea that anyone with a leftist-greenie-bent would be easy pickings for the likes of he: a real man who is clearly amply endowed with the spirit, ruggedness and courage of both the Anzacs and the heroes of the American west. Timmy Eastwood – Make his day…punks.
21 July, 2008 at 3:32 pm
“Be fair guys, he did say I think a kicking would be in order.”
Oh, I read that, but it’s hardly a direct answer to a simple question. I guess tim now feels a little embarrassed acting tough on the internet when he doesn’t come across as particularly tough in the flesh (or on Q&A) but I guess appearances can be deceptive.
21 July, 2008 at 3:33 pm
What Would Tim Do?
1. call in his flying monkeys to get medieval on their asses (note US spelling because we love it).
2. beat them to a pulp with his big right hand
3. link to a post that he believes supports his view but in fact does the complete opposite
4. claim the surge is working and that the number of disabled cars is at its lowest point for 6 months
5. shout out “Al Gore is fat”
6. in frustration, write “Traceeeeee” on the footpath (or should that be sidewalk?) in chalk
7. blame Rudd.
21 July, 2008 at 3:34 pm
This is hilarious
I know exactly what you are doing Tim. You are winding up the wowsers.
I do the same thing when I get Jehovah’s witnesses at my door. I tell them that I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite who loves crack and I just love to watch them go into shock.
21 July, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Tough? Who needs to be tough when you’re only dealing with British environmentalists? Even lamer — British environmentalists from Oxford?
Please, people. Even you could take one of those down.
21 July, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Even you could take one of those down
I’m looking at the top of the page…I don’t reckon you could, Tim.
21 July, 2008 at 3:43 pm
hey tim,
What are their names tough guy, these British environmentalists? You seem to quite confident that you could give them ‘a kicking’ so what are their names? You must know them if you know that ‘you could take’ them ‘down’
“Please, people. Even you could take one of those down.”
For all you know I could be severely disabled, in a wheelchair and unable to take anyone down. Assume much? LOL.
21 July, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Rad – You claiming to be in Tim’s league now?
I am still waiting for some answers from last week on Bolt’s graphs. Wind us up? I get wound up by ignorant stupid people woh cannot even read statistics and graphs.
Oh wait maybe that is the way. Say you are tough without saying anything at all. Just like Tim’s blog.
Tim – YOU still have not stated what YOU would do.
21 July, 2008 at 3:52 pm
I do the same thing when I get Jehovah’s witnesses at my door. I tell them that I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite who loves crack and I just love to watch them go into shock.
No you don’t Rad, you posturing little liar. We can add your comment to the pile of tough guy fiction building up over at Blair’s blog.
Does it make you feel like a big man to tell stories about what you “would” do to these terrible people?
21 July, 2008 at 3:54 pm
these guys are british and i don’t think they’d take kindly to a kicking …
http://www.shac.net/
21 July, 2008 at 3:54 pm
“but I guess appearances can be deceptive.”
LOL!! sorry robj but when your an old, florid fat guy there’s just no hiding it. the only way to get your street cred back is to start a blog and rant about wanting to do unspeakables to people from the safety of your computer keyboard.
marching vegetation. nation doomed. photoshopped iranians. iciting vigilantism. tim blair is making piers ackerman look sane, rational and composed.
21 July, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Rad – You claiming to be in Tim’s league now?
I’m not on anyone’s league. I am just pointing out the obvious. He’s winding you up, which isn’t hard to do as greenies are very self righteousness and prone to wowsering with a dash of mock outrage.
I get wound up by ignorant stupid people woh cannot even read statistics and graphs.
You mean like how you were trying to use a graph of inflows into Melbourne’s water storages as evidence of Melbourne’s annual rainfall totals?! I think I have already covered that point.
21 July, 2008 at 4:00 pm
Does it make you feel like a big man to tell stories about what you “would” do to these terrible people?
You can believe that if you want MR, but I can tell you now, it is the best way to stop Jehovah’s witnesses from knocking on your door for a follow up call.
But I must say, the Jehovah’s witnesses & greenies do have one thing in common. They both believe in an apocalyptic Armageddon. One believes that god will release it on the world for human sins while the other believes that Mother nature will release it.
21 July, 2008 at 4:01 pm
“old, florid fat guy there’s just no hiding it.”
LOL – True – but you never know, he could be a Ninja or something… Ah, I guess you’re right, he isn’t tough and would probably come off second best in a fight with a malnourished English hippy, who’d probably at least have youth on his side. LOL
I guess Rad has been bashed by Jehovah’s Witnesses hence his decision to attack them from the safety of his keyboard even though this thread has bugger all to do with Jehovah’s witnesses. Try saying ‘No thanks’ next time, works wonderfully for me.
One thing the world is not short of, internet tough guys and chickenhawks ranting on right wing blogs.
It is quite entertaining – like a spectacular crash.
21 July, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Rad – you better answer in the other comment thread. The linked graph was used perfectly in context as proven via BoM and many other commentators since Bolt tried that crap on last week.
He isn’t winding anyone up because he is hiding. Scared to answer what he would really do. It is a simple question he asked here which a number of people answered. When the question was asked of Tim, he has avoided the question.
If he is real in his convictions he should state simply what he would do in the situation. BTW Rad – What would YOU do?
21 July, 2008 at 4:09 pm
You know what I’m thinking of: A winner-takes-the-purse stoush between Tim and Andy! I’d pay heaps to see it. And the purse should be provided by Armani!
Imagine the scratching, gouging name-calling go-to that would be!
And the thought of them oiled up, bare-chested and be-booted would drive their groupies wild.
Can you imagine?
21 July, 2008 at 4:10 pm
It’s just a pity they’re so very, very close.
21 July, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Rad would use a Burmese hand-dragon punch followed up by a flying roundhouse kick upside the hippies head. Then he’d break dance on the fallen hippy’s stomach and call him a ‘punk ass biatch’
Either that or he would call his dad and tell him that someone had let the tyres down on the family car.
21 July, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Poor Tim.
The hidings he copped during his ‘exciting’ days in Werribee still haunt him.
Childish coward…
21 July, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Hahahahahahaha this thread is gold!
21 July, 2008 at 4:40 pm
“None of you would even shout at the guy, or orthwise try to stop him before calling the police? Surprising.”
How’d you reach that conclusion, tim?
There’s a huge line between shouting at the person to stop, and attempting to restrain him or her – and what your commenters are suggesting.
If you draw the line at a bit of gratuitous kicking (because of course it’s up to you to dole out punishment), then would you at least care to reign in the monkeys on your blog? They’re boasting that they’d do much more than that. On your site.
21 July, 2008 at 4:47 pm
“For all you know I could be severely disabled, in a wheelchair and unable to take anyone down.”
Maybe the British activist attacking your tyres is equally disabled. It could be fair fight.
21 July, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Still no answer from Tim.
For an opinion piece writer Tim appears to have no opinions of his own.
21 July, 2008 at 4:55 pm
But he does have answer-avoiding smartarse remarks.
21 July, 2008 at 4:59 pm
…gift-wrapped in his usual Grade 5 english skills.
21 July, 2008 at 5:00 pm
“Maybe the British activist attacking your tyres is equally disabled. It could be fair fight.”
Could you just answer the question that you’ve been asked? You claim that you can but have so far not actually managed it?
21 July, 2008 at 5:04 pm
“Maybe the British activist attacking your tyres is equally disabled.”
like: wheelchair user deflates tyres…just not his own.
honestly. do you even have a sense of perspective? or is that missing in action like your opinions?
stick with NATION DOOMED. it suits your alarmist zealotry.
21 July, 2008 at 5:13 pm
What is it with the left and violence?
Not sure if Bolt will link to this column from his little friend Timmeh.
21 July, 2008 at 5:50 pm
What kind of idiot would let down the tyres of 4WDs? Surely it’d be more efficient simply to slash them.
21 July, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Come on Tim! Give us an answer. Show us some Anzac spirit!
21 July, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Sugar in 4WD petrol tanks is also an acceptable alternative.
21 July, 2008 at 6:11 pm
You’re like a naughty school boy, Tim who has been caught out big time.
21 July, 2008 at 6:40 pm
What’s the question?
21 July, 2008 at 6:45 pm
Being honest Tim is considered a great human virtue. Come on Tim, show us some courage. I won’t tell your Mum. Give us an answer Tim.
21 July, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Try answering the two questions in my last comment, tim. (They’re the sentences that end with question marks. That squiggly punctuation symbol. This one: “?”.)
21 July, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Tim would do one of a few things.
He could either send his winged monkey after the perpetrators. That is if their mothers had finising washing their superman and cowboy costumes.
Press the crusie missile button on his computer keyboard and nuke the bastards.
Have a sleep over with Andy, and come up with some lengthy philosophical monologue about the terrors of the left.
21 July, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Ha ha ha. Just had a look at Blair’s first page on this one. How old are these people seriously. Absolute childish pathetic losers. Their behaviour eclipses any sort of parody of the Bolt/Blair “conservative” type you can dream up.
Its bloody hilarious. To me Bolt kinda represents the kind of poster boy of the new ‘right’. People typically embued with narrow-minded prejudice, tough-guy wannabe personas and childish self-centred-ness, yet attempting to present a situation where people with their type of politics, “conservatives” they call it, are civil, polite and un-emotional, whereas the ‘left’ are violent, rude and unruly. Lying to themselves in the process.
So Boltists tend to come across as a bit more calm and less extreme. The Blairites haven’t caught up with Andy’s little bullshit movement, and haven’t quite got the concept, having not learnt to put their Sunday bests on, and mask their typical rabid right-wing ways, like their cousin Boltists. Its really an interesting evolutionary phenomena.
21 July, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Andy’s monumental cognitive dissonance would preclude him to even consider whether the rantings and ravings at Blair’s site, challenge the bullshit self-persona that he has dreamed up.
21 July, 2008 at 8:00 pm
“Their behaviour eclipses any sort of parody of the Bolt/Blair “conservative” type you can dream up.”
yes i’ve often thought that about blairs blog. there is nothing intelligent or derived from actual thought that seems to get posted there. even tim’s treads are a series of links to other peoples blogs or news articles. so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that his blog doesn’t attract the sort of person who a) knows how to reflect on their own conduct, or b) has anything of value worth posting.
21 July, 2008 at 8:21 pm
“Try answering the two questions in my last comment, tim.”
I’m still waiting for your answer to this, Jeremy: “We could always experiment, though, by presenting Jeremy’s personal carbon-reduction efforts as an example to the world—and to other Australians, for that matter. Tell us all about your sacrifices, Jeremy.”
21 July, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Thats a bit juvenile Tim. Now lets get your answer and not squib it this time.
21 July, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Gosh Tim, school kids could show more guts than what you are exhibiting on this thread. Come on boy, try and act like a man.
21 July, 2008 at 8:58 pm
I’m still waiting for your answer to this, Jeremy: “We could always experiment, though, by presenting Jeremy’s personal carbon-reduction efforts as an example to the world—and to other Australians, for that matter. Tell us all about your sacrifices, Jeremy.”
Never seen that before. Anyway, I’ll answer it to show you what answering a question is like.
I have not, that I can think of off the top of my head, made any great carbon-reduction sacrifices “as an example to teh world”. But then, so what? I’ve never said I was a serious environmentalist. I’ve regularly said it’s not the most important issue to me.
I’m in fact on the record asking the Greens to consider their left-wing voters who are more concerned with better funding and management of public services (health, education, public transport infrastructure etc) than the environment. I certainly think we should err on the side of caution given that we’ve only one planet, and would argue that Australia should be seriously developing better and more efficient technologies and systems so that we can eventually rely on renewable, non-polluting resources. This development would be funded through taxation – but the only thing that requires of your average Australian is (a) paying their taxes and (b) not voting for idiot parties that insist on squandering it on political advertising or throwing it back in tax cuts. And I’ve certainly walked the walk on both of those.
I have an idea what kind of point you’re trying to make, but it doesn’t work because I haven’t argued what you seem to imagine I’ve argued.
…And now to you answering my questions. Go on. Do I need to copy and paste the comment again because your mouse doesn’t work?
21 July, 2008 at 8:59 pm
Didn’t you see my answer, John? For a watching site, this place isn’t so hot at reading.
21 July, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Bullshit, tim. You have not answered my questions.
21 July, 2008 at 9:10 pm
And you’ve not answered mine, Jeremy. It’s been weeks now.
21 July, 2008 at 9:22 pm
My apologies in advance; I hadn’t noticed Jeremy’s curious answer above. OK, to your questions:
“How’d you reach that conclusion, tim?”
Because no answer mentioned any attempt to stop the crime in progress.
“If you draw the line at a bit of gratuitous kicking (because of course it’s up to you to dole out punishment), then would you at least care to reign in the monkeys on your blog? They’re boasting that they’d do much more than that. On your site.”
Do you think it might be possible that the intention of those comments may have been to amuse or entertain? That they may not have been, you know, serious?
21 July, 2008 at 9:31 pm
“Because no answer mentioned any attempt to stop the crime in progress.”
Oh, I’m sorry. I thought that was beyond obvious. If it was possible to stop and/or detain said criminal, of course I’d do that, once I’d called the cops. (I’d prefer them to come and catch the person in the act, rather than trying to dial with one hand whilst attempting to restrain someone.)
I assume the other lefties would do likewise. If there’s a serious risk of the person, I don’t know, pulling a knife, then obviously the sensible thing to do would be to stay out of the way whilst taking a photo or something for later identification. Or would you rate your cars tyres not being deflated ahead of being stabbed? I don’t know how much you value your own life. I’d put mine above a ten minute problem a tyre pump could fix.
But then, I’m not an idiot.
“Do you think it might be possible that the intention of those comments may have been to amuse or entertain? That they may not have been, you know, serious?”
Ah, I see. The dark edgy comedy of bullish promises of violence.
Fucking hilarious! You must be so proud.

Great plan!
21 July, 2008 at 10:11 pm
This is the closest tim got to declaring his “great plan”:
“None of you would even shout at the guy, or orthwise try to stop him before calling the police? Surprising.
Helpfully, the act of deflating tyres requires that one adopt a vulnerable, crouched position. I think a kicking would be in order.”
So, his plan is to sneak up behind the person and kick them. Then…? Do you somehow kick them unconscious using your amazing previously unrevealed kung-fu skillz, or do you tackle them to the ground whilst heroically whipping out your mobile to call the police? Alternatively, are you attempting to cow them into submission by shouting at them?
How precisely does your imagined scenario work? I’m genuinely curious. At the moment it sounds like a fanciful but happy daydream in which you imagine you’re brave and tough and women admire you as the alpha male you always wished you were.
PS tim, you remember you were on television recently? We’ve seen you. You might find your wannabe Chuck Norris routine taken more seriously by an audience that hasn’t.

“PS tim, you remember you’ve been on television recently? We’ve seen you. You might find your wannabe Chuck Norris routine taken more seriously by an audience that hasn’t.”
LOL!!!!
21 July, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Jeremy, you fool! There’s no point in kicking a tyre-deflater from behind.
You’ve got to sneak up beside them. Think, lad. Think.
21 July, 2008 at 10:21 pm
You reckon you’re going to be able to kick them in the balls or something, tim? Sufficiently to entirely incapacitate them?
I’ve alluded to your recent appearance on the national broadcaster – must I highlight further the implausibility of your successfully doing this to a bloke of uni student age?
I mean, I can understand a bit of risky heroism to save someone dear to you – and I’d hope we’d all be prepared to do likewise – but to avenge the air in your car tyres?
21 July, 2008 at 10:29 pm
How dare you stereotype members of the tyre-deflating community. For shame.
Furthermore, I’m completely confident in my ability to handle any tyre molester I ever encounter in Oxford, England. I imagine they are kind of like voles.
21 July, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Blow me down but I think I’ve garnered new found respect for the Bolta.
Even he isn’t stupid enough to troll around all day at a site that finds him mentally lacking.
Here’s a question:
How many times a day must Timmeh google himself?
21 July, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Hey, tim, out of the promises of serious injury to be doled out to tyre deflaters by the denizens of your blog, which did you find the most “amusing”?
22 July, 2008 at 12:04 am
There were none of them without charm, Jeremy.
My all-time favourite line on hypothetical conflicts remains yours, however. Do you remember saying, on one of your Grods things, that I would be vulnerable in an imagined fight because I was “weakened by cancer”?
That was so sweet!
22 July, 2008 at 1:17 am
Well, I was worried about you. You shouldn’t be engaging in hypothetical fights at your age, let alone when you were fighting off a serious illness – even if you were on the mend by then. Your health is more important, tim.
I think you should avoid imaginary kickboxing with law-breaking greenie anti-tyre warriors for the same reason.
22 July, 2008 at 6:29 am
‘You can tell much about a man by the company he keeps’. I am not sure who said it, looking at Bolt/Blair sites it sure rings true. The vile cowardly thugs that inhabit Blair/Bolt sure are a good representation of their masters. Weak and pathetic is a compliment to these rejects who would have difficulty taking candy from a baby.

22 July, 2008 at 8:41 am
I used to work in crowd control and security and the law is pretty harsh on the whole ‘citizens arrest’ and hippy bashing thing.
Legally you can kill someone to protect yourself or others from being killed.
You can use a weapon to defend yourself as long as it is of equal or lesser force than your attacker. (so creeping up and bashing a hippy from behined with a criket bat doesnt count!)
You can effect a citizens arrest in almost any situation…but expect to be sued and charged with wrongful imprisonment and assault unless the arrestee has done something serious, you have caught them in the act and have witnesses to prove it.
What this means is that the Greeny tire deflaters get off scot free (or at most a misdemeanor) and timmeh and his ‘armchair beserkers’ go to jail for assault.
Id buy that for a dollar!

I wonder if the Bolt/Blair crews “green bashers” are really closet greenies?

Rob says;
I guess Rad has been bashed by Jehovah’s Witnesses hence his decision to attack them from the safety of his keyboard even though this thread has bugger all to do with Jehovah’s witnesses. Try saying ‘No thanks’ next time, works wonderfully for me.
Followed by this;
One thing the world is not short of, internet tough guys and chickenhawks ranting on right wing blogs
Then MR follows it with;
Rad would use a Burmese hand-dragon punch followed up by a flying roundhouse kick upside the hippies head. Then he’d break dance on the fallen hippy’s stomach and call him a ‘punk ass biatch’
I said nothing about violence, I only mentioned winding some religious fanatics up with shock value.

Global warming panic celebrates its 50th birthday. Well done, old chap. You still haven’t killed a single human, bug or plant, but at least you’ve made these two change their lightbulbs.
Clearly he’s concerned about the drop-off in ultra-intelligent comments he’s received from his “fans” since moving.
I think this is why he regularly puts up a few of those “take a pot-shot at the Greenie” posts – he realises that, without their regular fix of smug, greenie-bashing, “we know what’s really going on”, “massive conspriracy” wankery – there’d be nobody left to make him feel like he really is something. He must be feeling just a little bit sickly as he watches government after government (including conservative ones) around the world putting in place environment management policies and ETSs. Of course, this is written off as populism.
Sadly though, at the end of the day, he must realise that all he amounts to, like Bolt, is an internet-trawling, insult-hurling, media-Wannabe, who has only been given a little go because he’s willing to prostitute himself as a dog-whistling, hardline conservative – you know – the “other side” of the debate.
22 July, 2008 at 9:16 am
He must be feeling just a little bit sickly as he watches government after government (including conservative ones) around the world putting in place environment management policies and ETSs
Oh yes. All the governments of the world are putting in place an ETS. China, India, USA, Indonesia… etc…
Yes, it won’t be long until all the people of the world live in countries that have an ETS. Then we can live happily ever after.
22 July, 2008 at 9:18 am
Rad Pipper, I think most Jehovahs witnesses are wound up enough without you adding to the problem!
I have a pet Jehovahs witness. He comes round once a month and tries to convert me and I test his faith by asking him tricky theological and ethical questions, smoking pot and offering him rum in his coffee. I admire his persistance, its a 60 km round trip from town mostly on dirt roads.
Nice lad, and i think i can see him starting to really THINK about what he believes in. Maybe next time ill tell him about the wonders of the sacred mushroom…

“Followed by this;

Yes – the topic at hand is the idiots ranting on Tim Blair’s blog, you know, the internet tough guys and chickenhawks, apologies if you think that particular comment was aimed directly at you….
I stand by my statement that just telling Jehovah’s Witnesses ‘no thanks’ works perfectly well for me, then again I’m not one for winding people up just because their religious views don’t coincide with mine.
Again, what’s the point of you telling us that your an arsehole to Jehovah’s Witnesses who knock your door? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand, hence my suggestion that you were maybe bashed by them once? There’s got to be some underlying reason for your own admitted childish behaviour.
“I said nothing about violence, I only mentioned winding some religious fanatics up with shock value.”
So? Maybe you’ve got the wrong thread? One more time Rad, we’re discussing the idiots posting on Tim Blair’s blog regarding their violent fantasies of how they would deal with vandals. Feel free to stay on topic and participate rather than tell us about your irrelevant experiences.

NATION DOOMED! we’re all rooned! rooned i tell ya!!
bolt is becomming irrelvant on climate change. i wonder if he realises this or does he simply soak up the idolatry of his sheep as proof that australians generally identify with his views?

That’s your journey. Personally I like confronting religious fanatics with their bigotry and hatred for people that don’t fit into their
By saying I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite it forces them to confront their religious bigotry.
Again, what’s the point of you telling us that your an arsehole to Jehovah’s Witnesses who knock your door?
I’m sorry. I didn’t realise that it was offensive to confronting to a religious bigot.
Next time I will tell them I am a white, middle class, Christian who loves Jesus. That way I won’t offend them & you will be happy.

He must be feeling just a little bit sickly as he watches government after government (including conservative ones) around the world putting in place environment management policies and ETSs.
There are more governments around the world that are rejecting ETS policies than adopting them. The countries that matter the most, the world’s most populated are also the ones rejecting an ETS.
22 July, 2008 at 9:35 am
If bigotry and hatred are what upsets you why don’t you go over to Bolt & Blair’s blogs and rail there? there’s plenty of bigotry and hatred there?
“I’m sorry. I didn’t realise that it was offensive to confronting to a religious bigot. ”
I called you an arsehole, an arsehole doesn’t necessarily need to be offensive, they could just be an idiot…
“Next time I will tell them I am a white, middle class, Christian who loves Jesus. That way I won’t offend them & you will be happy.”
LOL – Assume much??? I don’t really care, I’m firmly agnostic but it doesn’t bother me one bit that others have faith of various flavours. I’m just calling it as I see it.

I called you an arsehole, an arsehole doesn’t necessarily need to be offensive, they could just be an idiot…
You think that telling a religious bigot that you are what they hate is being an arsehole. I think it is forcing them to confront what they hate.
If they have the right to knock on my door for the purpose of pushing a religion that promotes bigotry then I have the right confront them.
22 July, 2008 at 9:45 am
So Rad – What would YOU do to the tyre deflators?
I asked you yesterday and there is still no response.
22 July, 2008 at 9:46 am
RadP,
If you do just a little bit of research, I think you’ll be able to prove yourself wrong.
22 July, 2008 at 9:49 am

“I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite who loves crack ”
Because you;:
“just love to watch them go into shock.”
So you’re a troll too. LOL
Please try and be consistent, you’re all over the place, changing your story to suit yourself when you’re on the back foot. A bit daft considering everything you wrote in this thread is there for all of us to see. LOLOLOL
“If they have the right to knock on my door for the purpose of pushing a religion that promotes bigotry then I have the right confront them.”
I don’t dispute that, there’s no laws saying you can’t be an arsehole. LOL
22 July, 2008 at 9:54 am
So Rad – What would YOU do to the tyre deflators?

I would dob them into the cops with the hope that they would either be thrown into prison to become some one’s bitch or that they would get community service in an old people’s home, bathing the residents.
But the reality is that my wish for certain punishments would not be taken into consideration.
If you do just a little bit of research, I think you’ll be able to prove yourself wrong
I have and most countries of the world, including the world’s most popular have rejected an ETS.
Even the USA couldn’t get a bi-partisan proposal through the senate last month. Even though democrates and republicans supported it, it was rejected by both democrates and republicans.
With this kind of mixed support and rejection, they have no hope in hell of ever putting in place an ets.

Whatever dude. You seem to think that telling a religious bigot that you are what they hate for the purpose of being confronting and shocking is a bad thing.
I don’t dispute that, there’s no laws saying you can’t be an arsehole. LOL
The problem you have is that you seem to think that telling a religious bigot something that would offend them is being an arsehole. Especially when what offends the bigot is what most of society accepts.
Would you also think that telling those same religious bigots that you were an gay atheist that rejected the teaching of God and were offended by the bible was also being an arsehole?
22 July, 2008 at 10:10 am
RadP,
The very article you link to says this in the first para:
Companies and governments are turning to emissions trading as a weapon to fight climate change, in a carbon market worth $64 billion last year.
Thanks for that.
The rest is enough to convince me my statement was right and your’s was wrong.
22 July, 2008 at 10:19 am
Thanks for that.
The rest is enough to convince me my statement was right and your’s was wrong
Did you also read the whole article?
It would also be correct to say that Companies and Governments are rejecting emissions trading.
You would be a fool to believe that this one sentence show’s that China, India, USA, Indonesia, all or South America, all of Asia (except for a voluntary scheme in Japan), all of Africa…. are also implementing ETS.
The only places really implementing an ETS are Europe, New Zealand and Australia. They make up a fraction of the world’s population.
22 July, 2008 at 10:21 am
“Whatever dude. You seem to think that telling a religious bigot that you are what they hate for the purpose of being confronting and shocking is a bad thing.”
Rad, so you were lying when you told us that you said to the Jehovah’s:
““I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite who loves crack ””
“Would you also think that telling those same religious bigots that you were an gay atheist that rejected the teaching of God and were offended by the bible was also being an arsehole?”
I wouldn’t assume that all religious people were bigots. I realise assuming is just par for the course for you (see above).
I told you how I respond to evangelical types trying to convince me, I simply say “No thanks” I don’t troll for a reaction. I would have once upon a time, when I was an immature, aggressive, arrogant arsehole. Thankfully for me, I grew up.
I’m not a gay atheist so I wouldn’t say such a thing, what’s the point (unless I was trolling for a reaction) I’m an agnostic, I, like most people think about the possible existence of a god, I’m not that up myself that I think I know everything so I don’t think I’m in a position to state that there is no god. If I had to put money on it however….

Mandatory for 27 nations in EU
Covers around half of all EU emissions
For how long will you continue to argue black is white, RadP?
22 July, 2008 at 10:32 am
I wouldn’t assume that all religious people were bigots. I realise assuming is just par for the course for you (see above).
Anyone who tells me that their religions will never accept certain minority groups is a bigot. If that same person openly rejects what their religion preaches then their not bigots.
It’s like those people that say things like this; “I have nothing against gays except they are against god’s teaching and should never be allowed to marry”
You can’t say that you subscribe to a religion that openly discriminates and preaches hate against minority groups then claim not to be a bigot.
I simply say “No thanks” I don’t troll for a reaction.
So you think that confronting bigotry is trolling?
22 July, 2008 at 10:33 am

FFS RadP, you made this statement:
There are more governments around the world that are rejecting ETS policies than adopting them.
You link to an article that demonstates that around 40 counties have adopted an ETS and cites 1 country (yes, the USA) that has rejected an ETS – i.e. hasn’t got a scheme in place *yet* – nowhere does it say they have rejected it forever.
Your argument isn’t looking too good, is it RadP?
22 July, 2008 at 10:45 am

Your argument isn’t looking too good, is it RadP?
You admit that only 40 countries have adopted an ETS.
How many countries are their in the world?
Over 170. So this means that over 120 countries have not put in place an ETS.
Half the worlds population like in China, India, USA and Indonesia, which are countries that have rejected ETS policies.
Your grasping at straws Dean.
22 July, 2008 at 10:49 am
How many countries are their in the world?
I knew and predicted you’d put that argument – because that would be the only course for you to take – and because only a disingenous person would take it to save their silly skin.
Even a 3 year-old can see what is wrong with your argument: The other counties you count haven’t considered and rejected ETSs, have they?
And you lie about China and India (not sure about Indonesia) – they have not rejected ETSs.
22 July, 2008 at 10:55 am
“You can’t say that you subscribe to a religion that openly discriminates and preaches hate against minority groups then claim not to be a bigot.”
Dalai Llama is religious, he doesn’t come over as particularly bigoted to me, likewise Gandhi. The Anglican Church in the US ordains women and gays, they seem progressive, not bigoted. The bigots in this instance want to split from the church..
Your just generalising, lumping all religious people into the same boat. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not representative of all the religious people in the world.
“So you think that confronting bigotry is trolling?”
Not necessarily but this is:
““I am a Satan loving hermaphrodite who loves crack ”
Because you:
“just love to watch them go into shock.”
Evidently you don’t understand the definition of a troll.
I used to regularly confront bigots at Bolt’s blog without resorting to trolling, throwing insults and other various childish tactics.
I also deem it futile to try and convert someone of faith to agnosticism, likewise it would be futile trying to convince me to subscribe to any religious belief.
22 July, 2008 at 11:00 am
And you lie about China and India (not sure about Indonesia) – they have not rejected ETSs.
Oh Please. You can’t be serious. You actually believe that China and India will accept an ETS?
Both countries at the G8 made it very clear that they will not enact an ETS as it will impact economic growth in their countries.
As for the USA. If last’s months bi-partisan bill was rejected in the Senate, then what hope in hell do they have of Obama or McCain passing similar legislation when their economy is heading for a bad recession.
You seem to be in denial about what these countries are prepared to do for climate change.
22 July, 2008 at 11:03 am
Your just generalising, lumping all religious people into the same boat. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not representative of all the religious people in the world
No, you are the one that is generalising. I never said ALL religions. I was only referring to religious bigots. You are the one that is making the association between all religions and religious bigotry.
22 July, 2008 at 11:08 am
“You are the one that is making the association between all religions and religious bigotry.”
Sure, that’s why I listed the Dalai Llama and Gandhi and gave an example of a progressive Christian church.
I was saying earlier that trying to convert people is futile, the same goes for trolls, who make assumptions in debates and who appear to back pedal to suit their shaky arguments.
See ya!
22 July, 2008 at 11:18 am
Both India and China will rightly hold out for what is in the best interests of their large populations most of which are still living in 3rd world conditions. India already trades in the carbon market – I presume China does the same. It is true they have rejected proposals that have been put on the table up to now; but they have not rejected the notion of being part of ETSs in the future – at least if you believe what is being said by the relevant ministers. They have recognised the AGW issue.
Yes, my belief is that, as more an more countries adopt ETSs and participate in carbon trading, India and China will have to come on board or risk being locked out of the markets and other areas of trade.
Both McCain and Obama have committed to ETSs. To say the USA has or will reject an ETS is therefore premature and, at this point, silly.
Sorry, Mighty Matt – not interested in continuing.
22 July, 2008 at 11:22 am
Sure, that’s why I listed the Dalai Llama and Gandhi and gave an example of a progressive Christian church
I said that you made the connection because you made an incorrect assumption that I was referring to all religions.
I specifically said religious bigots and I used Jehovah’s witnesses knocking on my door as an example.
Please show where I have made references to the Dalai Llama and non bigoted religions.
22 July, 2008 at 11:29 am
Yes, my belief is that, as more an more countries adopt ETSs and participate in carbon trading, India and China will have to come on board or risk being locked out of the markets and other areas of trade
That’s a very big if Dean. I find it hard to believe that countries would even consider locking China and India out of trade when it is predicted that by 2030, China and India will be the world’s largest two economies.
If you add to that the chance that the USA will not adopt an ETS, you will have the world’s three largest economies excluded from ETS.
I doubt that the rest of the world would be willing to cut themselves off from these three massive economies.
But hey. We can all dream and wish for utopia. Whether utopia is possible is what is debatable and given the evidence and behaviour of these countries, it’s looking very bad for your utopia.
22 July, 2008 at 11:37 am
So Rad, You are of the Bolt mentality that if we can’t change things why bother? (If AGW exists of course)
22 July, 2008 at 11:43 am
So Rad, You are of the Bolt mentality that if we can’t change things why bother? (If AGW exists of course)
No, I am a realist.
Maybe what we should be doing is trying other, less impossible solutions. Like preparing for climate change instead of shooting ourselves in the foot when the world’s biggest emitters are not willing to participate.
At what point to we realise that China and India are refusing to participate and we start to refocus on other solutions?

geez, postings have increased a heap here recently.
Good to see, and good to have people of different political persuasion posting here IMO. IT would be good if this site became a forum of debate, with people migrating from the cowardly moderated, unhealthy, knee-jerked and non-thinking forums at Bolt and Blair’s sites
22 July, 2008 at 3:24 pm
“IT would be good if this site became a forum of debate, ”
Absolutely, I want to talk about McCain’s latest flip flop. The ABC is reporting that McCain reckons US Troops could be withdrawn from Iraq within two years… All of a sudden, straight after Maliki gave Obama’s plan a heap of credibility… What a coincidence!
I’d post it on Bolt’s forum but I just can’t be bothered reading the chickenhawks rationalising McCains flip flop…..
Jeremy et al – If we could just have one thread a day entitled ‘forum’, like at Bolt’s Blog????

“Jeremy et al – If we could just have one thread a day entitled ‘forum’, like at Bolt’s Blog????”
As long as they put in a witty one liner like “get it said here”……

Yes I would be more than happy to see this site grow, cover more topics and become an open forum for debate. Sites like Bolt’s and Blair’s are very, very unhealthy, and simply foster division and a lack of critical discussion.
The ability for individual issues to debated rationally and on a case by case basis is almost completed mitigated by an overwhelming Tsunami of pigeon-holing, name-calling, incredibly childish generalisations, tribal slogan-shouting, absurd cherry-picking of facts and figures in support preconceived agendas, mind boggling hypocrisy, pathetic and useless spins on logic, and imbecilic straw-manning of people not forming the consensus.
These sites are so pathetically moderated and so absurdly one sided, that so many people who visit them regularly, simply become mindless drones, whose personal religion simply comes to represent the machinations inside the heads of their blog hosts, who become like cult leaders to the mindless masses.
Very unhealthy stuff

well said chris.

“If we could just have one thread a day entitled ‘forum’, like at Bolt’s Blog????”
ugggh bolts daily forum. i rarely posted on there cause you’d get crap like “my farm header got booked for speeding 150kms in a 100kms zone when it can literally only do 20kms. it’s rudds fault”, to “we’re going to the gold coast for our holidays. ask the moderators to pass my email and we can meet up”, to “i studied anthropology for decades, and reckon the pygmies were here before the aboriginals.”
no thanks.
i love this blog because its devoid of personal stuff and comments get put up immediately. and i know that most here would use the debating capacity of a regular forum responsibily but i fear that once the regularity of a daily forum is established it would take a shit load of moderation of the trolls who invade occasionally resulting in the kind of moderation required at bolts.
but happy for others to comment.

What last person just said. Agree.

This site isn’t really here as an open forum, or even a general political site. The authors have other blogs – in my case, AnOnymousLefty, in Ed and Ant’s case, GrodsCorp – better suited for that.
This site is exclusively an exercise in countering the torrents of drivel published by two particularly asinine News Ltd typists.
23 July, 2008 at 6:43 am
Talking about drival, apparently Bolt knows what China, India and the U.S. are going to do in the next couple of years. ( regarding the ETS, or whatever it’s called ) as well he also knows what the libs are going to tell Turnbull at next Tuesdays’ meeting. ( read todays column, if you want a laugh. )
I wonder if Bolt ever reads what he writes? Or he just writes the drival to keep the sheep happy?

Good points confessions, I guess I had a rush of blood to the head.
Thanks Jeremy, I’ll have a look at those blogs you’ve linked.

Regarding carbon pollution and the like, i have great hope for Biochar and biomass energy as a practical and existing carbon sequestration technology.
Imagine Australian farmers being able to trade on the international carbon market with their soil carbon a valuable tradable commodity, improve their soil fertility and yields by 20% and help climate change all in one fell swoop. With no need for the billions invested in magical co2 pumps or inefficient (non existent) carbon sequestration technology.
There are already low emission wood and straw fired power plants in Europe. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/lincolnshire/6901907.stm
The biochar process creates bio oil and gas from pyrolisis of organic waste. The charred residue is then used as a soil conditioner and fertilizer creating a tight nutrient cycle, countering the effects of soil acidification and improving field capacity and nutrient availability. The carbon is locked up in the soil fo at least 1000 years in the soil. http://agron.scijournals.org/cgi/content/full/100/1/178
Carbon negative power and free fertilizer. Too good to be true?

I’ve been looking at a few posts about Bolt on GrodsCorp recently, and I’ve been wondering, especially with the comments on this particular post, what is it with teh Right and getting pwned?
23 July, 2008 at 12:07 pm
“He has been busy writing less than 200 words of his own today. I don’t count headlines.”
today blair outdoes himself and has written a grand total of 145 original words not including headlines. add the fact his readers are minimal judging by hardly any posts and surely the only conclusion you can draw is he is now irrelevant?

Have the lambs stopped screaming yet, Tim?
The Werribee Times needs a delivery boy. The work experience will do you good. You could also practise your courageous vigilantism.

Good old Tim. He’s a lad isn’t he? Tough? I’d hate accidently spill Timmy’s beer on a Friday night at the pub!
Maybe Tim and Andy could use some of the following about “global cooling”.
http://www.aussmc.org/documents/waiting-for-global-cooling.pdf
It’s such a pity they have to muddy the waters by telling lies.

CBB and Jeremy, understood, well said. But it would be good to have a forum for open debate somewhere. As a humanist, I think it would be good for the Bolt, Blair winged monkeys to be exposed to adult rational debate, to help cleanse them of their cult-induced idiocy, perhaps in the process they could come too represents real ‘conservatives’, a term with which they
now use to describe themseves, instead of just juvenile right-idiots. Who knows, under the weight of strong argument, that may even adopt some progressive views.
23 July, 2008 at 3:46 pm
What are the odds of Tim becoming a moderator at Bolt’s site? Of course with a celebrity intoduction post by Bolt? Bolt might even allow Tim to have a little “Time replies” section. Poor old Timmy’s blog is on the path to that of that useless clown Slattsey. I know this has probably been covered here before, but if anybody wants a little giggle, check out the efforts of one of Bolt’s moderators and what Timmy might be on the path too here.

Why bother if you get about zero responses per column?
23 July, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Back onto the topic of a few people out to have a “bit of fun” like Tim has alluded to his reader:
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,24061736-5001021,00.html
Why do the right hate so much? violence, alcohol, sex.. Oh the downfall of the right has been fast and hard.
23 July, 2008 at 5:22 pm
You were all mean to Tim and now he’s gone. Shame on you all.
23 July, 2008 at 5:32 pm
“Why bother if you get about zero responses per column?”
maybe he’s angling for a foreign correspondent type position at the tele given his blogging appears to have failed miserably. of the 10 ‘latest articles’ sidebar from today, only 3 articles are about australia or australian issues. that is if you can call a series of links to other people’s work ‘articles’. blair also seems to have an unhealthy preoccupation with barrack obama. unhealthy from the perspective that there is a lot happening in australian politics at present, and all he does is use his blog to take juvenile potshots at things obama or his staff said. i’m not surprised his readers have declined.
maybe if he started focusing more on local issues and actually writing instead of just lazily linking his numbers might improve. so might the quality of his readers contributions.

“News Ltd. typists”
I did smirk.

Check this out!!! I thought we’d seen it all from Bolt but his hit’s a whole new level for him.
At least some of the commenters question his cred. Sadly though, I see some are agreeing. Unbelieveable!

[OT again]
In case Bolt does the right thing and takes down the post or alters it I’ll preserve the text here:
Andrew Bolt – Thursday, July 24, 08 (07:15 am)
Utterly tragic, but in some ways a grim metaphor:
Homicide Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles said: “Sadly, about 5.30, a gentleman living on a rural property went out to put out his rubbish bins, went to a bus shelter and found a green shopping bag, looked in the bag and found the body of an infant or a baby, aged somewhere between one or two weeks and three months old.”
In the hysteria to “save” Earth from a warming that’s actually halted, we ignore a true and growing threat to children.
What can you say?
24 July, 2008 at 10:37 am
“What can you say?”
This.
24 July, 2008 at 3:39 pm
I think I may have just witnessed the most disgraceful Bolt post that I have ever seen.
Their seems to be pretty much no limit on how far Bolt’s slavish campaign against initiatives too lessen man’s harmful effect on the planet, will sink to the depths of immorality, with his utterly shameful and disgraceful “Planet Saved, Baby Dead”, column today. In this revolting effort from Bolt, he discusses the tragic scenario whereupon the body of a young baby was found by a gentleman as he went through his rubbish on a rural property.
The fact that the baby was found in a green shopping bag, gives Bolt the opportunity to manipulate another emotional and tragic situation, in order to make a political arguments. Not missing the opportunity to use the situation to further pursue his argument that the earth’s heat is not increasing, he spouts out the absurdly mornic line, “In the hysteria to “save” Earth from a warming that’s actually halted, we ignore a true and growing threat to children.”
Further than showcasing Bolt’s inability to discern the differences between correlation and causation, such efforts like this, show that Bolt is seriously out of control, and at least needs some sort of parent figure to kick his butt, for so shamefully and arrogantly manipulating any scenario, to further push his political arguments.
