    Afternoon All,

    I’ve been meaning to ask – why just Bolt and Blair.

    I don’t know whether someone else has mentioned it, but surely a blog like this should include reports on Piers Akerman – I notice that the Editor states in “No credit where it’s due” that “But Bolta’s such a rabid Rudd-hater”.

    While I usually avoid Bolt’s blog (prefer to read second hand on this one) I usually have a look at Pier’s blog – he would have to be the msot rabid Rudd hater in a mainstream paper, well ok the tele

    Hello- Bolt makes unsubstantiated slurs today, seemingly against either/both of you, about the racist comment on his site that Gerard referred to above. Here’s most of it: “Last week, for instance, a Leftist troll sent a foul racist slur to my blog, pretending to be what he imagined a Right-winger to be, and a fill-in moderator let it slip through. It was removed as soon as Jon Faine kindly and privately alerted me to its existence, having been contacted by the suspected perpetrator in the hope of causing me embarrasment.” It’s actually an aside in an attack on Marieke Hardy, found here:

    What about Andrew Bolt’s offering today in the “Booze safe” thread? He writes:

    Police in Alice Springs say they were appalled to find a driver put a seatbelt around a carton of beer – but left a five-year-old child unrestrained.

    Ethnic descriptors omitted, of course, so that valid conclusions cannot be drawn. “[/b]

    Valid conclusions drawn from ethnic descriptors, as if (biological) ethnicity is causally relevant?

    He’s copped a lot from his readers about this. A few weeks back he copped a lot from suggesting the darker skins of today’s French soccer team players equated to a loss of French culture, since to him skin tone equals culture. He copped a lot for that from his readers. Though it seems from today’s offering he hasn’t learned from the experience.

    I can’t help but wonder why you folk are still having conniptions about this Andrew Bolt fella. The way you fuss and flap you’d think Bolt was some journalistic Darth Vader, able to bring down governments and reshape society at will.
    Well, have you visited his blog of late? Rarely do his pieces draw much of a crowd these days. And what gathers is mostly of the “usual suspects” variety.
    And surely the fact that Australia is creek-to-coast Labor governments – and likely to stay that way for some time – proves no one is taking any notice of Bolt’s conservative line.
    No, I’m sorry but Mr Bolt is well and truly yesterday’s meat and not worth another tap on any one’s keyboard. So let’s all put our precious time and energy to better use, shall we?

    I wouldn’t say so – it’s just a pun on the similarity of the name “Wong” to the word “wrong”. It’s no more racist than noting the similarity of the name “Bolt” to the word “dolt”.

    WITH REGARDS TO THE ARTICLE REFRENCEING GEORGE DUBYA AS THE dARK NIGHT I JUST (sorry Im yelling) found on another web site that, he appears to have lifted the concept if not the bulk of his article from the wall street journal.

    Extract:

    And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society — in which people sometimes make the wrong choices — and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell.
